Love Is in the Air.

“Love doesn’t make the world go ’round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.”

Franklin P. Jones

February has a way of slowing us down. With Valentine’s Day at its heart, it’s a month that gently reminds us to focus on love — not just romantic love, but the people, places, and moments that truly matter.

Valentine’s Day is often about cards, flowers, and chocolate, but it’s also an invitation to reflect. Who do you love most? What do you love doing? Where do you feel happiest? When I look back on the past year, my favorite memories weren’t tied to work or achievements — they were the everyday moments spent with family and friends.

As the year gets underway, many of us are deep into planning, budgeting, and setting goals. Work tends to take center stage, often more than we realize. I remember when my daughter was young and asked me, “Dad, why do you work so much?” I tried to explain it in practical terms, but her response surprised me. She told me she didn’t care where we lived or what we had — she just wanted more time together. She’s in college now, and life has changed, but that simple perspective has stayed with me.

Love, like anything meaningful, takes intention. Balancing work and family isn’t always easy, but it’s worth remembering that success means very little without the people who share it with us. Our relationships deserve the same care, planning, and commitment that we give our businesses. We work to support the people we love, and in return, they support us every day in ways that matter most.

As Charles M. Schulz wisely said, “All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.”

Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be the only time we express appreciation or affection. The small, unexpected gestures throughout the year often mean the most. One of my personal goals this year is to be more intentional about showing love — surprising my wife, making time, and creating moments that remind her she’s always a priority.

So as February invites us to celebrate love, I encourage you to carry that spirit beyond just one day. Set goals for your relationships, not just your work. Make time for the people you love, laugh a little more, slow down when you can, leave a thoughtful note, steal a moment together — and yes, enjoy a little chocolate along the way.
